Q1. How would we define globalization?

The physical distance of each country remains unchanged, but the distance has actually shortened due to the development of traffic and communication. It can be said that the distance between country and country is close to that of town and village. And this is called the global village. It is meaningful that globalization is no longer crossing national boundaries and that cultural exchanges are active.

Q2. How could a fusion culture look in 100 years?

Through globalization, cultural exchanges between the countries have become active. However, cultural exchanges are not done equitably. There are more countries that do not use English than countries that speak English. Nevertheless, the influence of English is very large. Through this, culture convergence after 100 years is concerned that the cultures of developed countries will absorb the culture of weak countries.

Q3. Which country is more globalized: Korea or Japan?

Japan was much quicker in opening the culture than Korea. Through the policy of the Meiji Restoration, we took the lead in globalization while accepting Western culture. However, Korea is very slow to open the culture. However, Korea has succeeded in rapid economic growth by accepting Western culture, and is now taking the lead in the successful globalization of Hallyu. I think both Korea and Japan have an important place in globalization.

Q4. What are the most visible (successful) Korean wave elements in the world?

The beginning of the Korean wave originated in the drama. The drama "Winter Sonata" caused a huge repercussions in Japan. Based on this, dramas are being actively exported in East Asia and Southeast Asia. Therefore, the biggest factor in Korean Wave is the drama.

  1. You said that the superior culture can absorb the inferior. How do you think the weaker ones should act, not to be taken over?
