w.3 What is globalization? -jinsol park 2015048304

As a student of journalism, this article was very interesting. First of all, I have a great deal of interest in globalization. In the past, I studied the term " global village. " My professor said that a global village meant that the world was defined as a village. I read and summed up the article because reading this article will help me better understand my knowledge of globalization.

1.summary

Globalization has many disputes. Because there are differences in the point of view of correct definition of globalization. For example, There's a lot of arguing between developing countries and developing countries. Because they have different perspectives of Globalization. And Globalization has been discussed in the name of sociology, anthropology, and religion such as velho's perspectives.

Globalization became widespread after the Berlin Wall collapsed in 1989. And in the late 1990s, anti-globalization campaigns emerged in the West. The movement of the WTO, the IMF, and the IMF were caused by the use of the Internet. However, the movements were also widely protested. While focusing on the capitalist concept of globalization, social scientific factors were largely ignored.

Understanding the world as a singular issue has resulted in significant ramifications for social development. And then the question was raised. So they started looking at a more inclusive concept. Huntington said that the clash of civilizations began with the difference. In the example, he mentioned conflicts between Judaism and Christianity. And this article says that we should recognize the cultural aspects of globalization. And we can also look at it from a military perspective.

Richer cite McDonald as an example. And it's good to spread the brand, but it's also necessary to try to adapt the brand to the local situation. Therefore, capitalism needs cultural sophistication. And one of the key aspects of globalization is communication.

We also need to talk about the identity of the multicultural society. And you have to be interested in the components of humanity. For example, there is a way to improve the human rights of minorities.

In conclusion, First, globalization should consist primarily of two major directional tendencies. It is increasing global connectivity and global consciousness. Second, Globalization should take a special form for every shape and purpose. Third, globalization should consist of cultural, social, political and economic aspects.

2. interesting point
The most impressive thing about this article is that I learned the concepts of glocalism. I usually thought that I had a lot of Globalization. But I thought I'd learn more. The concept was born in 2001 with a combination of globalisms and localisms. I started to learn more about the concept through the Internet search. This concept has emerged as an alternative to overcoming the limitations of each concept and establishing a new order. For example, Korea's unique culture and traditions correspond to localism, and the World Cup corresponds to globalism. I like this concept. Because, it is not a dichotomous confrontation but recognizing both side of advantages. Also, I was impressed by the examples of McDonald's mentioned in the article.

3.discussion point
Globalization has brought us many improvements. It is a world that engages in cooperation with other countries such as cultural exchanges and technology exchanges. However, the following issues have been discussed continuously since the past. Etheocentrism is an example. A similar example is cultural flunkyism. We need to think deeply about how to deal with this. I would like to say that this is not a making culture ranking. Rather than evaluating culture, it is embracing and admitting the culture itself. Often people tend to reject against their culture. But this is not correct. We need to respect other cultures as well. What do you think about this problem? How can we resolve the ‘ethnocentrism’?
