W6. Cutural Globalization / Joo won il

Discussion on globalization in terms of culture

Globalization means a network that occurs in all our lifestyles. Therefore, it has a great influence on our lives. In other words, globalization is closely connected with our life. Globalization is a network of countries, societies, and individuals. It has cultural influences all our lifestyles. Therefore, if globalization connect to capitalism, globalization will work biasedly. The article describes it is a cultural imperialism or Westernization. Therefore, we need to explore and worry about what is truly culture and what is globalization.

In the process of globalization, globalization will be unified by integrating different cultures. And, as we have said, it will proceed with Western-centered or US-centered globalization. In cultural terms, these results are not a good result. Globalization, which absorbs the culture of the weak countries, is no different from imperialism. As Starbucks coffee, Marlboro cigarettes and Coca-Cola, The world integrated a single wave.

However, due to this phenomenon of globalization, anti-Western waves are also flowing in many countries. Especially in the Islamic world. Historically, we have always seen struggle at the end of this cultural oppression. Therefore, biased globalization can not be good for anyone.

Therefore, globalization should be based on cosmopolitanism. The world is now capitalist in general. Political interests exist between nations, and nations have to make rational choices in economic relations. Therefore, cosmopolitanism can be perceived as incomprehensible. But it is a necessary concept for all to win. Also, we can not predict the future of globalization perfectly. The concept will continue to change, and we will have to create a more flexible and inclusive cultural concept.

Globalization and Anti-Americanism

It was interesting to link the explanation of globalization with Marx's concept. Marx's class theory is regarded as classical sociology But it can explain the concept of globalization especially when it explained the phenomenon of cultural imperialism. I think we can explain the anti-Americanism of the Islamic nation against the USA like the Florentarian struggle in the bourgeois repression.

About FTA(Free Trade Agreement)

I would like to discuss the FTA treaty. FTA is active throughout the world with starting with globalization. However, the FTA is a big rebound in various interest groups at the same time. As well as Korea, FTAs are still controversial about fairness. I would like to discuss whether the FTA is a product of positive in globalization.
