W10. Political Globalization / 2013052034 Park Sang Jun

1. Summary
Political globalization is being driven by increasingly accelerated and interdependent organizations. Political globalization is an approach to the social world associated with de-nationalism and transnational processes. Political globalization has been discussed extensively in the literature of globalization. For some countries, the process of political globalization opens up the possibility of new liberation, while the globalization of other countries leads to the loss of autonomy and division of the social world. Political globalization can be understood as a process of three processes. Global geopolitics, global normative culture and polycentric networks.

The most common form of government in the world is the parliamentary state. This means the spread of democracy. The most of countries have democratic governments. It is a kind of globalization based on territory, and is mainly made up of the political form of the nation state. In other words, it can be regarded as taking a traditional form.

Democratic countries in many parts of the world now have different forms. Thus, the first context of political globalization is global geopolitics. The second is a global normative culture. This is irrelevant to global geopolitics and refers to political communication. Human rights and other environmental issues are also included here. Due to the globalization of communication and popular culture, political communication has no longer been restricted by borders and has changed globally. It has turned into a global problem as well as a political struggle.

This change is due to a multifaceted network and is associated with a new form of global governance. Although the global political order is primarily state-based, it is possible to talk about different kinds of order that can be related to the concept of global civil society. The current concept of civil society is controversial. However, it is unofficially recognized as having a political impact on countries and markets. This can be regarded as an independent existence beyond the state and the government. Also, it is organized around the world including NGOs, and it is centered on social movements. The characteristic of the global civil society is that it exists not only in one space but also in various spaces. It is organized around the world, through a network of horizontal solidarity and activists. What is important in these three aspects is that they are not independent of each other, but are closely related. This is due to the influence of globalization and, therefore, the relevance is very deep.

The nation remains a powerful entity. However, because the world is currently connected, it can not be fully controlled. Some scholars believe that the country is absorbed by the world market. The national economy dominated the economy, but as the world economy grows larger, new economic forces are trying to dominate the nation. In view of the importance of global civil society, the nation-state argues that sovereignty should be shared with NGOs and made into a multi-governance structure.

The nation state will not disappear. However, the function is getting weaker. In world capitalism, scholars think that transnational institutions will emerge and functional structures will be passed on to these institutions. However, in the case of the EU, it may be separated again. There is a desire for national autonomy and it is difficult to have the same definition in terms of territorial aspect or political community.

It is clear that the state is changing in response to globalization. The separation of nationality and citizenship has been influenced by culture, and the boundary between domestic and international law has become blurred. Rather, integration can be seen as delaying the emergence of a new nationalist movement. However, the present state accepts political globalization, and it is necessary to study it.

2. What was interesting?
In fact, political globalization usually involves political integration. But here, it shows various aspects of political globalization. In particular, it was impressive to explain the global civil movements such as NGOs, not political integration. NGOs are having a great impact on the world today. For example, in the case of Greenpeace, it is deeply involved in the environmental policy of each country and hold several meetings. In addition, the Red Cross has been concentrating its efforts on relief supplies to prevent war. Therefore, civil movements such as NGOs have become a very important factor. I was impressed to explain these NGOs in detail, and I plan to study once more the importance of NGOs and the Global Citizens Movement. It was also impressive to describe political globalization in three aspects, not one aspect. Global geopolitics are the concepts first learned through this document. In fact, it is easy to see political globalization as simply a narrow-minded idea, but through this document, I saw as a broad idea.

3. Discussion Point
The question is the possibility of the integration of world politics. Currently, the EU is continuously trying to integrate. However, there are many people who have negative thoughts on integration, such as the UK leaving the EU. Therefore, political integration between countries in political globalization is bound to have important questions. Most countries, of course, will not want political integration. However, as cultural globalization and economic globalization continue, the possibility of integration is increasing. As a result, we have questioned the possibility of political integration. In other words, I wondered if the world would be politically integrated, integrated if it would be integrated, and how many would oppose it.
