1. Summary
Globalization is multidimensional, accelerated, and connected. Political globalization is an approach to the social world that emphasizes the de-nationalism. With the impact of globalization, the nation-centered, ethnocentric state has declined. On the other hand, globalization has created a new political realm. And created de-territorialization and re-territorialization. Political globalization opens the possibility of liberation to some countries, while it causes the loss of autonomy and division of society in other countries.
The most universal form of political globalization is the diffusion of democracy. Democracy is based on the parliamentary state system. Democracy exists in most countries, and it is a kind of globalization based on territory. This is mainly confined to the political form of the nation state. The second form of political globalization is the rise of world normative culture. Most of this is legitimate, but distributed globally. The kind of world normative culture is human rights, and it also includes environmental problems. Political communication is global and not limited to borders. With the proliferation of democracy, political communication has become the basis of world normative culture. Today, the world normative culture exists beyond the national system. It provides normative reference points for the state and directions for politicians.
There is globalization that can not be reduced to a global normative culture. This is a pluralistic network. It is a non-national form of government that originates from multiple sites. This process of political globalization is related to the flow of networks and communication, and shows new relationships between individual countries and society. A pluralistic network is associated with a new form of global governance. A pluralistic network is associated with a global political order that can be related to the concept of global civil society.
The concept of civil society refers to the political realm between countries and markets. Global civil society has created all sorts of organizations, such as international NGOs and global civil society movements. It is multifaceted and is organized around the world through a network of structured horizontal solidarity and activists. Global civil society is not a separate entity, but another space beyond the world market. It exists with the state and affects the world. Political globalization has transformed public space and communication. Communication is the center of politics. Political parties exert social influence in political communication. Political parties use free discussion through the media, and communication through advertising. Communication is the open site of political and cultural debate and is institutionalized or controlled by the state. Habermas has revived the discursive democratic theory as a theory of the masses. The new social theory of the public domain has now been shifted to the perspective of the international community.
Global civil society is not defined in relation to the state. It can be argued that global civil society refers to a complex of intergovernmental networks. Civil society also makes an effort to challenge the hegemony institutionalization of world capitalism. The types of civil society are composed of organizations such as Greenpeace, doctors without nationality, the International Women's Movement and the World Social Forum. Political globalization has increased the emergence of new political spaces and increased emphasis on mobility, flow and networks. Political globalization is no longer restricted to the nation state, but dominates the space imagination. Political globalization has created new roles for small countries, strengthening interconnectivity and networks, and creating awareness of international space.
2. What was interesting?
It was interesting to discuss political globalization and NGOs. The global civil society says that it is linked through political campaigns, inter-state approaches and problems, and networks. The global civil society has been formed over a long period of time. It begins with the recognition that we are living in a dangerous society in the world. The world civil society organizations I know are Greenpeace, doctors without borders, and UNICEF. It was interesting to know the detailed information of the NGOs in the world, and it was good to know the characteristics of NGOs.
3. Discussion Point
Globalization of civil society follows patterns such as democracy, nationality and citizenship. Civil society has evolved through the network connectivity of social movements with globalization of the environment and politics. Thus, global civil society has a great impact on globalization. So what are the disadvantages of global civil society organizations?
